LUCKNOW: The recent Allahabad high court recommendation for a special law to protect and preserve ponds of the region could be a savior for the large number of ponds in and around the city taken over by rampant encroachment in the name of housing projects. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, principal secretary Urban Development CB Paliwal had earlier instructed all local bodies of the state to remove encroachments from ponds, grazing grounds and graveyards and also inform the government about them on a regular basis.
