VISAKHAPATNAM: Nearly two years after the use of plastic carry bags of less than 40 microns thickness was banned nationwide, traders, vendors as well as the general public in the Port City continue to flout the rule with impunity. The plastic-littered beaches, nalas and roadsides mirror how the ban has been rendered ineffective, chiefly due to the failure on the authorities' part to create awareness and take stringent action against those flouting rules.
